Academics are still a key component of Korea University Student Life. Students can spend their week as a class in lectures, in groups on assignments, in seminars, with a presentation preparation or in laboratory experiments. Independent study is also significant, especially in subjects including engineering, science, economics and international studies which are challenging. International students are advised to verify the language of instruction of the programme they wish to enroll in before they register. English is used for some classes, and Korean skills will offer access to a larger range of classes and enhance daily communication. Also, students who are interested in the financial aspects of university will want to check out Korea University Fees as well when making their course selections as tuition is different in each academic field.

Korea University has produced influential professionals in various fields, such as Politics, Business, Academia, Law, Media and Public Service. It has a wide network of alumni which helps to establish a strong community culture at the university. Students will meet with graduates during career events, professional presentations, academic programs and networking events.

Alumni connections, however, should be considered as a means to learn and build professional networks, not to ensure employment. Students should also have excellent academic and skill-building programs, professional internships, and interview preparation to create career profiles that are competitive.

Korea–Yonsei Games

The most popular tradition is the annual Korea–Yonsei Games, often referred to as Ko-Yon Games by Korea University students. Korea University and Yonsei University are competing not only for a dominant position, but also in sporting events, with a sea of people and a competitive spirit.

The 2025 Ko-Yon Games was the 60th regular game, which included baseball, basketball, ice hockey, rugby and football. Overall, Korea University won the competition 3-2. For many students it’s more than sport. The alumni, current students and the university communities take part in the cheering tradition and celebration to foster the spirit of the university.

Granite Tower Festival

Another important event is the Great Granite Tower Festival, or Suktap Daedong Festival. The festival is traditionally organised around the university’s anniversary period in May and brings together students, departments and clubs. Activities can include academic seminars, performances, street events and the well-known Ipselenti cheering festival. These events give international students a chance to experience Korean university culture beyond lectures and academic work.

Is There a Korea University Uniform?

The Korea University uniform is not required for students in daily classes. Rather, when it comes to university identity, it is more commonly conveyed through crimson sporting themed clothing, jackets, gear and cheering uniforms worn at festivals, sporting contests and other significant occasions. For ceremonies, interviews and official events, formal attire may also be worn. Students should not, therefore, equate the appearance of ‘University’ or event clothes with the required uniform for every day at school.
