So, here is a complete guide to applying to Nottingham Trent University as an international student:

TOEFL (iBT), IELTS, Pearson Test of English, and many more are the English Proficiency tests accepted by the university. Given below is the list of all the tests and the minimum scores set by the university:

SAT/ACT Requirements

Normally, universities abroad require SAT/ACT scores to review your application but Nottingham Trent University does not require any of these. Still, you should take the tests as you might want to apply to the other universities as well and they’ll probably require these.

Tuition Fee and Cost of Living

NTU is quite affordable when compared to other universities in the United Kingdom. Though the cost of living is slightly higher. Given below are the rough figures of the fees and other expenses that a student must consider before applying.

Annual Cost GBP INR*

Books/Supplies £250 ₹25,000
Total £22,750 ₹22,75,000

* This INR conversion is done taking 1GBP = 100INR which subjects to change depending on the share market.

Application Portal

The applicants of Nottingham Trent can apply through the UCAS website. The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service or UCAS is the organization that operates the application processes for the universities in the United Kingdom. NTU does not have a portal of its own.

Personal Statement

A personal statement or statement of purpose is a field on the UCAS application that you need to fill. It requires you to write about yourself in a maximum of 4000 characters, (roughly 700-800 words). This essay should connect the course you want to pursue with your lifestyle, activities, achievements, or hobbies. Here are some points that Nottingham Trent University wants you to consider in your ‘personal statement’:

  • Why are you interested in the course? What do you want to do after you qualify? If you’re passionate, prove it!
  • These are some other points to be considered:
    • Have you got relevant personal qualities or attributes? If so, what are they and how can you show that you have them?
    • Do you have the relevant skills, knowledge, and experience?
    • Have you done any relevant voluntary work? Have you done unaccredited training?
    • Have you undertaken relevant part-time or full-time paid or voluntary work?

Take your time with your personal statement and don’t rush! This is one of the most important factors that affect the chances of your acceptance. Make drafts, get feedback from several people, or simply get help from UniRely.
