How to Make the Best Use of the Lockdown as a High School Student, who is Aspiring to Apply to Universities Abroad

Amidst the lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis globally, everyone is gradually quarantined. As a silver lining, we can also see what this brought to us. We stopped running and everyone has gotten enough time to find themselves in some way. The work in offices has shifted to work from home now. But what are the high school students doing all through this quarantine?

Though it may take time to resume back to the daily life we were living, the dreams are still something we all are holding on to. Classes and exams for high school students are being held online and soon the admissions process will start too.

  • Take this time to work upon yourself. Think of ways to improve your CV so that you can apply to the top universities abroad.
  • Practise for the standardized tests such as the IELTS, TOEFL, SAT and ACT. This is a good time to take multiple mock tests to ensure a good score on these tests.
  • Talk to college counselors and student mentors studying at the university you wish to apply to. Learn more about the universities you are interested in to make a more informed decision about your University list.
  • Find yourself a new hobby like writing, drawing, cooking, singing and work on it. Try to choose one activity and excel in it so that you can mention it on your college applications.
  • Do forget to work on your academics as well. Universities focus on your high school grades so make sure you score well on your exams, even if they are held online.
