Most Universities in Canada may ask for SAT/ACT scores for admissions. Besides, these scores are also used to offer merit-based scholarships. It is advisable to check with the universities you are interested in attending to find out which tests are necessary for admission.

SAT and ACT

Both the SAT and ACT are standardized tests that are taken into account for university admissions, primarily in the US. Taking these tests is not compulsory for most universities in Canada. However, if one does take the SAT or ACT, they can still use it to strengthen their application & improve the chances of a scholarship.

If these scores are submitted with the application, then the average entrance scores among good universities are 1300 on 1600 on the SAT and a 29/36 on the ACT. The scores obtained in these tests are valid for five years from the time of the examination. To know more about the SAT and ACT and their center locations, please visit their official Websites.

SAT Subject tests

SAT Subject Tests are multiple-choice standardized tests offered by the College Board on individual subjects. These tests are offered in 20 different subjects across 5 disciplines. Each test is scored out of 800 points and the duration of each is 1 hour long.

The SAT Subject Tests are not required for admission in universities in Canada, however, it helps demonstrate your skill and interest in a particular subject, and may help you with college-level courses. We suggest you only submit your SAT Subject test scores if you have done exceptionally well.

To register and learn more about the SAT Subject Tests and the subjects offered, please visit the official college board website: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat-subject-tests

Advanced Placement Exams

Taking AP Exams can help students stand out in the college admissions process, earn college credit, and build skills that are essential for success in college. Credit policies differ by college, so students should understand the policies of the universities they are interested in.
