Universities in Singapore release their admission decisions between April and July. For major universities like NUS, NTU & SMU, you will have to submit your actual 12th-grade scores as soon as they are available, and your offer letter will be sent out if you have been accepted. In Singapore, universities send out unconditional offers and you will have to accept/reject the offer within a certain timeframe. Once you receive an offer, you would be required to accept or reject your offer via the application portal.

If your application has been rejected, then some universities allow you to write in an appeal asking you to state your reason as to why you think you should be admitted to the university.

Student Visa Procedures

After you accept your offer, a Student Pass application will be sent to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) by the university and you will receive an email on how to complete these formalities. After you submit the Student Pass application you will have to pay a submission fee of SGD30 which is roughly ₹ 1600. Once your application is approved you will have to pay an issuance fee of SGD60 which is roughly ₹ 3200 and the multiple-journey visa fee of SGD30 which is roughly ₹ 1600.

If your Student Pass application has been approved, you will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter that allows foreign students to enter Singapore for their studies. This is a required document that must be carried with you when travelling to Singapore.

After your Student Pass application has been approved, you must pay the tuition fees for Semester 1 by the stipulated deadline.

When you come to Singapore, make sure to keep all your documents like your passport, transcripts, bank statements ready for verification at the University. It is recommended that you also keep a scanned copy of all your documents. You will also have to submit your medical records and book an appointment for a health screening at your university’s health centre. You will be screened upon your arrival in Singapore.

Student Accommodation

Once you accept your offer and complete all formalities, universities that have on-campus housing will contact you for housing arrangements. You will have to apply for on-campus housing if you wish. All international students are guaranteed 2 years on-campus accommodation from NUS & NTU. Other universities will send emails regarding their housing procedure and will guide you accordingly.
