Application Portals and its Sections when Applying to Universities in Hong Kong for an Undergraduate Degree
When applying to universities in Hong Kong, each University has its own individual application form. The application opens in September and students are required to submit their application by Mid-November.Â
The documents required to have a complete application are:Â
- Scanned copy of your identity document, which can be your passportÂ

- Your official high school transcripts of class 9th,10th and 11th
- Your certificates of examinations such as SAT/ACT and English Language Proficiency tests such as IELTS and TOEFL

- Contact information of your: Academic referee, who would be writing your letter of recommendation and your IB coordinator career counselor, for your predicted grade report)Â Â

Personal Particulars Section
This section requires an applicant to fill in basic details such as the name, age, gender, email id, phone number, date of birth, identification document number, information about visa and other such details.
Program choice Section
This section requires the applicant to submit their program choice. Note that you can select up to two choices and the first choice will be considered as your first priority. If the first choice is unsuccessful you will be automatically considered for the second choice
Secondary Education Section
In this section, you need your secondary education details such as school name, expected date of graduation and results of your 9th,10th and 11th final examinations
Examinations Results and English Language Proficiency test
These sections require you to upload results of your high school and English proficiency exams you will take or have taken. For IB Diploma and Indian applicants, include your predicted grades for each subject. In the English Language Proficiency section, submit your IELTS or TOEFL scores in the spaces provided.
Prizes and Awards
This section requires applicants to write any prizes, awards or accolades they have received. Make sure you have the certificates handy in case the universities ask for them.
Extra-curricular Activities
This section requires applicants to write extra-curricular activities they have been part of. These can be fests, activities and hobbies you are involved in during the last few years.
Work Experience Section
This section asks the applicant to submit information about all their previous jobs and internships if any.
Personal Statement
This section requires the applicant to write a personal statement with a maximum of 4,000 characters. The applicant should clearly explain their reasons behind their application
Academic Reference
In the final section, applicants need to provide an academic reference who will upload your predicted grades and the letter of recommendation. This can be your IB Coordinator, Career Counselor or High School Teacher. A separate email will be sent out to them regarding the predicted grades and Letter of Recommendation.

Uploading important Documents
You will be required to upload all supporting documents in this section, which include:
- Scanned copies of your identification, personal statement, high school transcripts from grade 10 onwards, certificates of public exams, degree certificates and official transcripts and English language proficiency proof documents.
For transcripts you have not received, you may enter the expected date you will receive them and upload it to your application later.
Each file should be within 2mb and before uploading, make sure the filename describes the content of your file.
Finalizing and Payment
After you are done with uploading the documents, make sure to review the entire application before you go ahead with the payment process. Once you review the application and submit it, the page will prompt you to the payment option. The application fee is HK$ 450 ~ USD60 which has to be paid either by a Visa or Mastercard.
