Singapore Institute of Technology is Singapore’s first university of applied learning. Located in Dove Drive, Singapore, SIT was established in 2009 by the former Deputy President of the Singapore Management University, Tan Chin Tiong. It offers 30 different types of industry-focused programs. During your period of education, you’ll get at least 12 months of real industry experience. The programs offered at the university fall under five major categories: Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Food Technology, Infocomm Technology, Health and Social Sciences, and Design and Specialised Sciences. Along with its own programs, it also offers specialized degree programs with many reputed overseas universities. English Proficiency Test Requirements

If the primary language of instruction in your high school was not English, you’ll have to demonstrate your proficiency in the language to help the university access your ability to understand the curriculum in English. Please note that some programs have specific English language requirements. So you’ll be required to fulfill whichever is the higher requirement. Following are the methods to demonstrate your English proficiency:

  • 6.5 or above in the IELTS academic
  • 90 or above in TOEFL (Internet-based Test)
  • C6 in Cambridge ‘O’ Level English/EL1119
  • C1 Advanced or C2 English Proficiency in Cambridge English

 

ACT/SAT Requirements

Not all applicants are required to submit their ACT or SAT scores. But these are taken into account where applicable. To check if you’ll need to submit these scores or not, refer university’s website. In case asked to submit, the following are the scores you should be aiming for. Please note that these are only provided as a guide and do not guarantee admission.

Personal Statement

A personal statement is one of the most important sections of your application. In this, you’ll have to talk about your motivation, passions, awards, dreams, struggles, etc. Your responses will help the university to identify your uniqueness from the pool of applicants. You’ll be required to attempt each question with a word limit of 300 at maximum. 

 

Interview

As the admission is competitive, applicants shortlisted based on applications will be invited to attend the interview. These interviews can be conducted in various modes such as video conferencing, face-to-face, or written tests. If you’re shortlisted for the interview, you’ll be informed through email along with instructions. 

 

Tuition Fee and Cost of Living

The tuition cost of attending the Singapore Institute of Technology as an international student is going to be high. Your living cost will depend on your lifestyle choices. Following are the estimated expenses you’ll incur:
